Power BI optimizes response times in the Mexican education sector

Secretaría de Educación del Gobierno de Coahuila faced slow, manual reporting and fragmented data from roughly 1 million students and 50,000 teachers, which hindered planning, accountability, and timely decision‑making. To modernize its analytics and make education data more accessible, the Secretaría adopted Microsoft Power BI (Power BI) to consolidate disparate sources and create interactive, shareable dashboards.

Using Microsoft Power BI the ministry developed six public dashboards that bring together school control records, PLANEA assessment results, health indicators and academic traceability across about 18,000 elementary and high‑school groups. The solution dramatically reduced data reconciliation times that previously took weeks or months, improved response times and transparency for internal management and the public, and the Secretaría plans to expand capabilities with Power BI Premium for deeper segmented and longitudinal reporting.
