Power BI Makes Our Game Even Better

Geocaching, a modern outdoor treasure-hunting company, faced the challenge of reviewing hundreds of thousands of user log comments daily to detect lost, damaged, or poorly placed Geocaches and maintain game quality. To scale this work, Geocaching turned to Microsoft Power BI (Power BI) to analyze member feedback efficiently.

Using Microsoft Power BI’s built‑in sentiment analysis, key‑phrase extraction and embedded Microsoft Cognitive Services, Geocaching automated parsing of hundreds of thousands of comments and combined sentiment scores with internal metadata to monitor health by country, state, cache type, container size and difficulty. The no‑code, Dataflow‑refreshing Power BI solution let them quickly pinpoint issues like inaccurate coordinates or misplaced caches, dramatically increasing responsiveness and improving the overall quality of the Geocaching game.
