Pickles Auctions - Customer Case Study

Pickles Auctions, a national Australian auction house with around 800 staff and operations in every state, faced the challenge of replacing home‑grown legacy systems to deliver a slicker online experience, greater agility and mobile working for employees. To meet these goals they adopted a Microsoft‑based stack — including Azure Cloud Services, Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Windows 10, Office 365, SharePoint — and are beginning to leverage Microsoft Power BI for analytics and insight.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure and Dynamics 365, Pickles implemented a cloud platform, rolled out Windows 10 and Office 365 to all employees, launched a SharePoint intranet and went live with the first phase of Dynamics 365 for Operations. The new architecture (microservices, automated ALM and agile delivery) has streamlined operations, enabled a mobile workforce and positioned the business for continuous innovation; Pickles already sells ~220,000 items a year with turnover above $2.2 billion and more than 35% of sales online, metrics the company says will be further supported by Microsoft Power BI–driven data and cognitive services.
