PETRONAS, the Malaysia-based energy group, faced a challenge of vast, disparate data accumulated across 300+ subsidiaries and hundreds of sources that made finding and analyzing information slow and difficult. To become a data-driven organization they partnered with Microsoft technologies—building an Enterprise Data Hub on Azure and adopting tools including Microsoft Power BI—to make data available, accessible, and actionable for employees.

Using Azure services (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks) PETRONAS launched the Data+ self-service portal and integrated Microsoft Power BI for no-code visualization and analytics. The solution unified 280 data sources into a secure, searchable hub, delivering measurable impact: more than 16,000 users globally, 90% of users report faster access to data, and time spent finding information reduced to one minute or less—enabling faster, higher-quality decision-making.
