Organica Water optimizes wastewater treatment processes while driving sustainability with Azure and Power BI

Organica Water, a Hungary-based medium-sized company that builds and operates biocentric wastewater-treatment facilities, needed a way to remotely monitor and actively manage water quality across more than 120 sites to meet stricter effluent standards, reduce manual work and travel, and improve energy efficiency. Organica turned to Microsoft Power BI together with Azure services (Azure IoT Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure SQL Database) and Microsoft Teams to centralize minute-by-minute time-series data and improve visibility and collaboration.

Using Microsoft Power BI as the frontline visualization and reporting layer in a cloud pipeline (IoT Hub → Stream Analytics → Power BI → Azure SQL), implemented with partner Systemfarmer in three weeks, Organica automated reporting, halved on-site visits, and enabled remote optimization of aeration. The solution delivered a 30% energy reduction at one Hungarian plant (about HUF3 million / USD 9,200 per month), potential industry-wide savings of at least 15%, much faster report generation (down from 4–6 hours to a simple refresh), and reduced travel-related emissions.
