Oregon State University advances its research capabilities with Microsoft Azure

Oregon State University (OSU), Oregon’s largest public land‑grant university, needed to run health‑care research that required HIPAA‑level security, but its previous cloud provider didn’t meet those standards. To solve this, OSU migrated its data to Microsoft Azure and adopted Microsoft Power BI (along with Azure Security, Microsoft 365 and Teams) to support secure, compliant research workloads.

Using Microsoft Power BI together with Microsoft Azure and Azure Security, OSU established reliable, compliant, and more secure data management that meets HIPAA and HITRUST requirements. The move unlocked health‑care research opportunities previously out of reach, improved data governance and security, and positioned the university to pursue additional research initiatives.
