Opportunity heats up as Honeywell connects with homeowners

Honeywell, the global manufacturer behind thermostats and home‑security systems, needed to transform its products into connected services and build a secure, standards‑based IoT platform to scale device‑to‑cloud communications and unlock data‑driven insights. To monitor connectivity and visualize application performance as it shifted to a software‑ and services‑led model, Honeywell deployed Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure IoT and analytics services.

Honeywell implemented its Sentience platform on Microsoft Azure (including IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Azure Machine Learning and Cortana Intelligence) and uses Microsoft Power BI for internal dashboards and visualizations to track device connectivity and app health. The solution enabled ingestion of millions of events per second, freed engineers to focus on customer features (halving feature development time), cut regional time‑to‑market from as much as a year to about three months, and opened new SaaS, maintenance and insurance partnership opportunities.
