A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Omaha Public Schools, the largest district in Nebraska with about 51,000 students across 80 schools, faced outdated, on‑premises data warehousing and conflicting, stale dashboards that limited their ability to measure instructional impact and drive technology adoption. To modernize teacher coaching, app approval, and district decision making, they turned to Microsoft solutions—moving to Azure and SQL Database and adopting Microsoft Power BI for richer, timelier insights.
By migrating to a hybrid cloud platform and using Microsoft Power BI alongside SharePoint and Surface, OPS built tools like Observation 360, the Coaching Dashboard, and an App Approval tool that combine qualitative and quantitative data in near real‑time. The initiative enabled more than 23,000 coaching visits in one year (and 25,000 the following year), improved coaching feedback via video, increased transparency for app lifecycle and budgeting, and scaled adoption through a 200‑member Microsoft Innovative Educators program—delivering clearer decisions and stronger instructional outcomes with Microsoft Power BI at the core.
