Case Study: Financial Fabric achieves near-real-time buy-side analytics and seconds-level insights with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Financial Fabric Case Study

NY fintech streamlines buy-side data analysis with Azure Data Explorer

Financial Fabric, a New York fintech that delivers buy‑side analytics to fund managers and institutional investors, faced slow, manual batch processing of massive, heterogeneous datasets—tens of thousands of files and some workloads with ~30 billion rows (~12 TB)—which made timely insights and ad hoc analysis impractical. To modernize its DataHub and enable near real‑time analytics, Financial Fabric adopted Microsoft technologies, including Azure Data Explorer, Azure Data Share, Microsoft Excel connectors and Microsoft Power BI.

By integrating Azure Data Explorer into its platform and enabling connections from Excel and Microsoft Power BI, Financial Fabric achieved dramatic improvements: ingestion reached about 600,000 rows/sec, storage compressed from 12 TB to 1.5 TB, query and report refresh times fell from minutes or hours to seconds, and complex SQL computations dropped from ~30 minutes to a few seconds—delivering fast, secure, self‑service analytics for clients and ongoing collaboration with the Microsoft Power BI/ADX teams.
