A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Narayana Health, a Bengaluru‑headquartered hospital group with 30+ units and 5,600 operational beds, faced slow, decentralized analytics: although clinical and ERP data were centralized, reporting was done at the unit level, producing nonstandard outputs and requiring 2–3 weeks to consolidate after month‑end, with analysts duplicating work about 10 days each month. To solve this, Narayana Health adopted Microsoft Power BI to standardize and accelerate group‑wide reporting.
Using Microsoft Power BI together with an enterprise SQL Server BI database (SSIS to fetch/transform data and SSAS to define metrics), the vendor delivered unified dashboards and real‑time views across all units in a roughly three‑month rollout (May–Aug 2016). Microsoft Power BI cut report generation from weeks to within 24 hours, enabled faster, more effective decision‑making, and freed analytics teams to move toward higher‑level and predictive analytics.
