Manulife migrates and modernizes essential valuation application using Azure services

Manulife, a global financial services provider, faced a fragmented, costly valuation environment—300 individual models across 21 legal entities, rising storage and compute costs, and slow regulatory reporting—that made faster, more accurate valuation critical. To address this, Manulife partnered with Microsoft Power BI and moved its valuation system to the Microsoft Azure platform, adopting Azure, Azure SQL Database, Azure DevOps, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Monitor, and Power BI to modernize the application and streamline development and analytics.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure PaaS services, Manulife automated workflows (Azure DevOps, Logic Apps, Terraform), consolidated databases to Azure SQL Database, and integrated 65 administrative systems and 80 datasets for real‑time processing and reporting. The modernization cut valuation run time from six days to two, reduced lead times by 80–90%, enabled terabyte transfers in minutes, slashed storage costs, lowered total cost of ownership, and improved developer velocity and regulatory responsiveness.
