London Midland, a UK rail operator, faced rising passenger numbers and the need to keep trains running on time while empowering a distributed firstline workforce. To speed decision-making and reduce downtime, London Midland deployed Microsoft Office 365 tools (including Skype for Business, OneDrive, OneNote and SharePoint Online), Surface Hub collaboration screens, and analytics via Microsoft Power BI to give technicians and managers fast access to data and training wherever they work.

Using Surface Hub for interactive schematics, Office 365 for mobile collaboration, and Microsoft Power BI dashboards to track KPIs, the vendor’s solutions cut repair decision time from days to minutes, reduced service downtime, and improved operational metrics such as miles per technical incident. The integrated Microsoft Power BI-driven dashboards and cloud tools also connected staff across 150 stations, streamlined training and reporting, and made fleet performance more transparent and actionable.
