Leading Thai hospital moves toward digital healthcare with business intelligence

Praram 9 Hospital, a 150-bed JCI-accredited private hospital in Bangkok handling about 1,100 outpatients daily, faced an aging 10-year BI system that forced analysts to compile reports manually in Excel (taking 3–5 days), produced poor visualizations, and lacked mobile access. To modernize analytics and enable faster, mobile-enabled decision making, Praram 9 adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition and Mobile BI.

Microsoft Power BI was integrated with the hospital’s HIS and Active Directory to deliver dashboards, mobile reporting, and role-based security. As a result, more than 50 department heads and executives can access real-time management information on their smartphones, report compilation time was reduced from 3–5 days to near real-time, and management can better plan human and clinical resources—improving operational efficiency and helping the hospital accommodate more patients.
