Kenyan agronomy company effectively transforms safe food production with Microsoft Power BI

Sultan Green Technologies, a Kenya-based agronomy company founded in 2019, set out to democratize safe food production across Makueni County but faced limited traceability, manual data collection, and uneven adherence to food-safety practices. To give smallholder farmers timely, actionable insights into inputs like pesticide and water use and to track production costs and time-to-harvest, the company adopted Microsoft Power BI as the backbone of its analytics efforts.

Using Microsoft Power BI to build its Food Safety Intelligence Platform (with additional Azure services for data ingestion and storage), Sultan Green transformed farm data into immediate, actionable dashboards and incident reports that improved accountability and decision-making. Starting from a four-farmer demo, the solution eliminated the need for additional software, made it easier to measure production, costs, and profits, drove farmer demand for wider deployment, and positioned the company for partnerships and scaling across the region.
