A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Kent Watersports, a U.S. retailer and wholesaler of water- and snow-sports equipment, faced a sudden COVID-19–driven surge in direct-to-consumer orders and needed to modernize e-commerce, centralize order and inventory data, and enable remote work. To meet those challenges the company adopted Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce alongside reporting and analytics with Microsoft Power BI (and Azure Data Lake Storage) to unify B2B and B2C selling and provide a single source of truth.
By implementing Dynamics 365 Commerce and using Microsoft Power BI for reporting, Kent Watersports consolidated data into Azure Data Lake Storage, built more than 160 Power BI reports, and joined the Dynamics 365 B2B e‑commerce preview to let distributors order online. The results include a record sales year, daily executive monitoring instead of weekly reporting, dramatically faster fulfillment (previously annual volumes now processed in months), reduced customer‑service workload, and better scalability for continued growth—driven by insights from Microsoft Power BI.
