Johnson Controls exceeds enterprise training expectations with scalable solution built on Power Platform

Johnson Controls, a global building systems leader, needed a better way to manage enterprise training for its North American rollout of SEDU, a large service excellence initiative affecting thousands of employees. Its existing training process was fragmented across Excel, Smartsheet, SharePoint, Outlook, and SurveyMonkey, creating manual work, inconsistent data, slow reporting, and unreliable survey response tracking. Microsoft Power BI was part of the broader Microsoft Power Platform approach used to improve tracking and analysis.

Microsoft Power BI, along with Power Apps and Power Automate, helped Johnson Controls build COBALT, a centralized training deployment and reporting solution that standardized scheduling, rosters, surveys, and analytics. The results were significant: training support scaled from about 30 participants per month to more than 1,200, survey automation raised on-time execution from 80% to 99.99%, roster completion lag dropped from 7–10 days to 24 hours, reporting turnaround improved from five days to 24 hours, and administrative overhead fell from 2.33 FTEs to 0.5 FTEs.
