A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Japan Post Staff Co., Ltd., a large Japan-based BPO and HR services provider, faced high time, cost, and training burdens from converting vast numbers of paper forms and from capturing the know‑how of experienced telephone operators at its Kyushu BPO Center. To modernize document digitization and call routing, Japan Post Staff partnered with Microsoft technologies (including Azure services) and used Microsoft Power BI for monitoring and reporting.
Working with Microsoft engineers through repeated "Hackfest" sprints, Japan Post Staff built a Switchboard Exchange system (using Azure Cognitive Services) and a Data Entry Support System that scans forms, fragments fields, processes images via Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Azure Batch, Cosmos DB and Bot Framework, and uses VoTT for tagging; Microsoft Power BI provides dashboards to track progress. The solution cut the need for bespoke operator training and reduced paper handling and privacy exposure, is scalable across form types, enables remote work, and is projected to save on the order of tens of millions of yen while shortening development and rollout time.
