Grupo Prodensa, a Mexico‑based consulting firm that helps companies set up manufacturing and distribution operations, was tracking nearly 50 KPIs across more than 60 client projects using spreadsheet‑based Balanced Score Cards. Manual data entry – several thousand entries per month – and the need to consolidate multiple spreadsheets into monthly PowerPoint reports made KPI reporting slow, error‑prone, and unscalable. Grupo Prodensa worked with Microsoft and partner Lagash to modernize the process using Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure SQL Database and Office 365.

Lagash and Microsoft built a proof of concept in under three weeks and deployed Balanced Score Card dashboards running on Azure with data in Azure SQL Database and visualized via Microsoft Power BI. The new solution provides near‑real‑time KPI dashboards, prevents managers from altering baseline goals, and eliminates the monthly manual aggregation step—saving each business‑unit manager about one day of work per month. Microsoft Power BI also enabled centralized, scalable reporting and easier analytics access, paving the way for more KPIs and mobile data entry.
