Illimity optimizes data governance and streamlines compliance with Azure Purview

Illimity Bank, a digital‑native bank in Italy, faced a rapidly expanding and complex data ecosystem that made it hard to manage data governance, ensure GDPR compliance, and deliver timely insights to business users. To modernize its data stack the bank worked with Microsoft, adopting Azure Purview for unified data governance alongside Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks—and using Microsoft Power BI for reporting and self‑service analytics.

Using Microsoft Power BI together with Azure Purview and the Azure data platform, Illimity Bank implemented automated data lineage, cataloging, anonymization, and self‑service dashboards. The solution accelerated data access and use, reduced manual data‑quality work, streamlined GDPR compliance, and empowered business users to run faster cost/risk reviews and reporting—enabling the bank to move toward more frequent (weekly) financial monitoring while freeing data teams for more strategic work.
