Hexagon equips public safety agencies with robust data analytics using Power BI

Hexagon, a global leader in sensor, software, and autonomous solutions, needed a way to turn vast, fragmented public-safety data from HxGN OnCall Dispatch and HxGN OnCall Records into timely, actionable insights for agencies facing tighter budgets and higher citizen expectations. To meet that challenge Hexagon partnered with Microsoft Power BI and other Microsoft services (Azure, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Power BI Embedded) to deliver a modern, affordable analytics foundation embedded in its HxGN OnCall Analytics offering.

Hexagon implemented a star-schema data warehouse with ETL pipelines and semantic models that leverage Microsoft Power BI (including Power BI Embedded and Power BI Report Server) to deliver 30+ subject-area data models, out-of-the-box dashboards, mobile access, custom map visuals (heat maps and playback), and live data connectivity (GPS pings every five seconds). The Microsoft Power BI–based solution lowered reporting licensing complexity and cost, created a single source of truth, improved performance for live analysis, and enabled agencies to measure response times, resource coverage, and utilization more quickly and accurately.
