Hendrick Motorsports uses Microsoft Teams to win productivity race

Hendrick Motorsports, a premier NASCAR team that fields four cars and builds more than 550 engines a year, faced the challenge of making split-second, data-driven decisions on and off the track while coordinating dozens of engineers, mechanics, and transport crews across a 100‑acre campus and a 38‑week race season. To replace fragmented emails, paperwork, and a partial Slack rollout, Hendrick turned to the Office 365 collaboration stack—centralizing work in Microsoft Teams with integrated tools such as SharePoint, Planner and Microsoft Power BI to give crews immediate access to telemetry, test results, and logistics data.

The team implemented Microsoft Teams as the primary collaboration hub and added Microsoft Power BI dashboards for visual analytics inside each workspace, enabling engineers and pit crews to share and analyze fuel, aerodynamics, and setup data in real time. The result: faster, more coordinated decision making (fueling and setup choices made in seconds during 45–50 second laps), fewer face‑to‑face meetings, accelerated testing cycles with more on‑the‑fly analyses before races, and high adoption across the organization—improving productivity and trackside responsiveness throughout the season.
