Case Study: Hellenic Bank achieves actionable market insights and competitive benchmarking with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Hellenic Bank Case Study

Hellenic Bank transforms market analysis using Power BI, offering business customers unmatched insights

Hellenic Bank, a leading Cypriot financial institution, identified that many business customers lacked visibility beyond their own sales to benchmark market share, customer demographics and neighborhood-level trends. Working with Microsoft Power BI as part of its Microsoft cloud stack (including Azure and Microsoft Entra ID), Hellenic Bank developed a Commercial Intelligence offering that turns anonymized, aggregated card transaction data into actionable market insights for business clients.

Using Microsoft Power BI, Hellenic Bank deployed interactive, secure dashboards (backed by Power BI Premium and Microsoft Entra ID with MFA) that analyze about three million card transactions monthly from over 250,000 active consumers—covering roughly 35% of local card spend—to deliver market-share tracking, share-of-wallet and demographic breakdowns across sectors like grocery and fashion. The tool enabled customers to benchmark monthly performance against competitors, improved decision-making and customer experience, and earned positive feedback such as a leading fashion retailer praising its accurate, timely market-share monitoring.
