Guzman y Gomez, a fast-growing Australian restaurant chain, faced a major data challenge: Head of Technology and Insights Steve Orleow needed reliable data to optimize restaurant profitability but couldn’t find a single source of truth. He had been scraping 22 separate datasets into Microsoft Power BI to produce helpful reports, but that approach wasn’t sustainable for a large, rapidly expanding organization.

To solve this, Guzman y Gomez built a proper data platform using SQL Server and Azure Analysis Services and committed to Microsoft Power BI for reporting, with implementation support from Agile Analytics. Agile Analytics delivered real-time Power BI dashboards to desktop and mobile, consolidating analytics workflows and enabling near real-time benchmarking, drill-down analysis, and data-driven decisions across restaurants. The result was improved operational efficiency—managers can monitor performance on the move, senior leaders spot underperforming sites quickly, and the business can respond rapidly to changing conditions.
