Grid operator Bayernwerk increases occupational safety with Power Apps

Bayernwerk Netz, a German grid operator responsible for substations and switching stations, faced a safety and data problem: site inspections and accident reports were recorded on paper, scanned, and filed, leaving the company unable to analyze recurring defects or derive preventive measures. To digitize and gain real insight, Bayernwerk Netz adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and Microsoft Teams to modernize its Health‑Safety‑Environment (HSE) documentation.

Using Microsoft Power Apps the Network Services team built an in‑house HSE App that uploads inspection and incident data via Power Automate into a Power BI database and routes urgent reports through Teams; Microsoft Power BI dashboards now present counts, trends and the most common defects so the team can spot patterns and take immediate countermeasures. The solution eliminated paper workflows, sped up reporting and notifications, saved time and resources, and measurably improved occupational safety by turning previously unstructured records into actionable insights via Microsoft Power BI.
