Grant Thornton gives customers secure access to personalized finance insights with Azure Active Directory B2C and Power BI embedded analytics

Grant Thornton UK LLP, a professional services firm, wanted to give customers secure, personalized access to financial insights in its customer portal without exposing internal apps, Microsoft Power BI reports, or file shares. The challenge was to authenticate external users safely, meet security and compliance requirements, and tailor content by client sector and interests.

Microsoft Power BI was used alongside Azure Active Directory B2C to create a secure identity layer and embedded analytics experience for the portal. Grant Thornton gained granular permissioning, multifactor authentication, Conditional Access, and user policies that let customers manage passwords and enabled non-IT staff to administer access. The result was a more secure, easier-to-manage platform that improved the customer experience, reduced IT bottlenecks, and saved time on identity administration and password resets.
