Case Study: Johnson Controls achieves faster adoption and improved collaboration with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Johnson Controls Case Study

Global Manufacturer Stays in the Lead with usage Insights that Enhance Collaboration

Johnson Controls, a global manufacturer of intelligent buildings, integrated infrastructure, and energy storage solutions, needed better visibility into how thousands of employees used its Microsoft 365 services to drive adoption, optimize support, and control costs. To replace slow, manual reporting, the company turned to Microsoft 365 usage analytics—accessed and explored with Microsoft Power BI and the Microsoft Graph API—for insights on active users, collaboration trends, device types, and license consumption.

Using Microsoft Power BI to visualize Microsoft 365 usage analytics, Johnson Controls built dashboards and reports that replaced manual processes and enabled proactive, data-driven support. The solution gave the IT team real-time visibility across ~120,000 users, improved rollout and communications targeting, revealed license usage to reduce overspend and avoid overage costs, and helped optimize IT resources and adoption—sharply improving service health monitoring and end-user productivity.
