A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Cerner Corporation, a global healthcare solutions provider, was struggling with fragmented asset and configuration data spread across many systems, no single source of truth, slow manual data-quality calculations, and reporting that could take days or even a week to assemble. To move off legacy OBIEE reporting and accelerate cloud-first workflows, Cerner adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure services to modernize visualization and analytics.
Using Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Analytics, Databricks and Azure SQL as the Beacon backbone, and Microsoft Power BI for interactive dashboards, Cerner consolidated data from more than 20 sources into a single authoritative repository. The solution made server counts traceable, automated complex data-quality scoring (completeness now at 92.44%), turned quarterly, days-long reports into near‑on‑demand insights, and freed teams to focus on development and innovation rather than data wrangling.
