A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Sulava, a Finnish IT services provider with a largely mobile workforce, needed an easy way to share employee locations and schedules without heavy custom code so teams could collaborate, staff regional meetings, and seize local opportunities. They turned to Microsoft Power BI technologies—using Microsoft Flow for button-triggered check‑ins, SharePoint Online for storing check‑in data, Azure Functions for geocoding and metadata, and Power BI for mapping and visualization.
Using Microsoft Power BI tools the vendor implemented a simple mobile check‑in workflow that captures latitude/longitude, calls an Azure Function to enrich location data via Google Maps, writes records to SharePoint Online, and displays results on a Power BI map. Built and prototyped in roughly two days, the Microsoft Power BI solution increased cross‑company collaboration, improved resourcing and planning, and reduced missed opportunities by making team location data easy to share, analyze, and act on.
