A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Fashion e-tailer Myntra uses Azure to help customers look good

Myntra, India’s leading fashion e‑tailer, faced an urgent need for a cloud-based, massively scalable supply‑chain and inventory platform to handle seasonal peaks and rapid growth. The company partnered with Microsoft, migrating its portfolio to Azure in nine months and adopting Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure HDInsight, Azure Synapse Analytics and Microsoft Power BI to centralize data and modernize its analytics and operations.

Microsoft implemented a unified data processing framework using Azure Synapse and HDInsight with a phased migration and close engineering collaboration, enabling auto‑scaling to peak configurations (up to 30,000 DWU across two Synapse clusters and HDInsight scaling to 12,000 cores, later scaling to 60,000 cores and petabytes of storage). The deployment handled a 30% year‑over‑year traffic increase, processed more than 4 million orders from 3.5 million customers, supported 120 million sessions, improved CPU utilization and stability, and allowed Myntra to scale infrastructure 50% while accommodating three times more traffic — outcomes driven by Microsoft Power BI and the broader Azure solution.
