Case Study: ACDI/VOCA achieves streamlined operations and accurate aid tracking with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the ACDI/VOCA Case Study

Economic relief organization ACDI/VOCA upgrades its technology to streamline operations—and help communities in need

ACDI/VOCA, a Washington, D.C.–based economic development nonprofit working in Colombia, faced outdated, paper‑based processes that delayed data entry, produced duplicate records, and risked losing track of an $8 million portfolio of social recovery programs. To modernize workflows and improve donor reporting, ACDI/VOCA partnered with Microsoft Power BI and other Microsoft technologies (Office 365, Power Apps, and Azure) to bring digital tools into remote field operations.

Using Power Apps and Office 365 on tablets and a token‑based beneficiary system that syncs to Azure, ACDI/VOCA built in‑house solutions and Power BI dashboards to prevent duplicate aid, capture offline surveys, and provide real‑time views of program impact. Microsoft Power BI dashboards and the new tools cut about 80 hours per month previously spent reconciling data, accelerated decision‑making, strengthened donor transparency, and improved trust and service delivery across Colombia’s programs.
