Devon is one of North America’s largest independent oil and gas producers, operating in a tight, commodity-priced market with about 3,500 field-based employees and production of roughly 250,000 barrels of oil and 1.2 billion cubic feet of gas per day. Facing the need to get the right data to the right people quickly and improve field productivity, Devon adopted Microsoft 365 Enterprise (Office 365, Windows 10, EMS), Azure cloud services, and analytics and dashboarding tools including Microsoft Power BI.

Using Microsoft Power BI as part of the Microsoft 365 and Azure solution, Devon commoditized dashboard creation, standardized Windows 10 across ~8,000 endpoints, enabled real-time collaboration via Skype for Business and SharePoint, and moved line-of-business and disaster-recovery workloads to Azure. The outcome was faster decision-making (in some cases reducing processes from hours to minutes), dramatically increased dashboard usage and managerial visibility, improved time-to-productivity, and better ability to right-size resources for cost savings.
