Case Study: Deutsche Telekom achieves a secure, scalable IoT data marketplace for analytics with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Deutsche Telekom Case Study

Deutsche Telekom - Customer Case Study

Deutsche Telekom needed a secure, scalable way to share IoT and enterprise data with partners and manufacturers while keeping control, compliance, and low operational overhead. Working with partner Ultra Tendency, the company built the Telekom Data Intelligence Hub on Microsoft technologies—including Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure services (Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL, AKS, Azure Databricks)—to provide a governed data marketplace with built‑in analytics.

Using Microsoft Power BI and the broader Azure platform, Deutsche Telekom delivered a cloud‑native, fully managed marketplace that enforces data sovereignty, fine‑grained access rights, and pay‑as‑you‑go pricing. The solution removed the need for in‑house database operations, lowered database maintenance costs, provided automatic backups/high availability and elastic scale, accelerated time to market, and has been rolled out to users in the EU and Australia (freemium launched Sept 2018, premium in April 2019).
