Danish pump manufacturing company adopts Power BI to enhance self-service reporting on SAP Business Warehouse

Grundfos, the Danish pump manufacturer, faced a major BI bottleneck: all reporting from SAP Business Warehouse had to be created by the BI department using SAP tools, leaving business users unable to self-serve, relying on sprawling Excel workarounds. To modernize reporting, Grundfos adopted Microsoft Power BI together with Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Database to bridge SAP BW and cloud-based analytics.

Using Microsoft Power BI, Grundfos implemented Azure-based pipelines, Power BI dataflows, centralized security tables, governance, and user training so business users could build their own reports. The shift to self-service reporting dramatically accelerated delivery — reports grew from 629 to 2,037 in one year and reached about 4,000 in two years (a 535% increase) — while the BI team moved to focus on architecture and standards.
