Custom Air Products & Services manages HVAC manufacturing process using Microsoft Power Platform

Custom Air Products & Services, Inc., a Houston–based HVAC design and manufacturing firm of roughly 200 employees, faced costly, error-prone manual processes for tracking custom units through fabrication, testing, and shipping. With limited IT budget, the company relied on spreadsheets and paper “traveler” documents that were often lost or duplicated. To address this, CAPS adopted the Microsoft Power Platform—using Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power BI—to digitize sign-offs, issue reporting, and project tracking.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside 25+ custom Power Apps and supporting Power Automate flows, CAPS implemented the CAPS Traveler app and 10 companion sign‑off apps that read/write to SharePoint lists and auto‑generate Word/PDF test reports within minutes. The solution, live in production since December 2018, replaced paper processes across 30+ use cases, eliminated repeated data entry, improved visibility for daily “duck walk” inspections, and consolidated third‑party tools—delivering timely, accurate data to employees and measurable gains in process control and reporting.
