Cultural change drives decades of adaptation and efficiency at LITE-ON

LITE‑ON, a global APAC manufacturer operating from 334 sites, faced the challenge of modernizing a traditionally conservative culture to increase agility, cut costs, and streamline collaboration. To drive a people‑first digital transformation it adopted Microsoft 365 tools and analytics—working with Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Workplace Analytics, Teams and SharePoint—to surface collaboration patterns and build leadership and employee buy‑in.

A four‑month Workplace Analytics pilot with a Microsoft consultant revealed that email consumed >60% of collaboration time, directors spent 70% of their week on collaboration, and 50% of meeting hours were long, large meetings. Guided by those metrics, LITE‑ON shifted reporting to Power BI dashboards and moved communications to Teams and SharePoint, which reduced email hours, increased external collaboration, empowered more decision‑making at lower levels, and cut busywork—results driven and demonstrated through Microsoft Power BI.
