Real Madrid Football Club, with some 500 million fans worldwide and about 97% living outside Spain, needed a way to engage supporters everywhere and personalize their experience. The club partnered with Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Services to envision and build a global digital sports platform using a range of Microsoft cloud services (Azure, Dynamics 365, Office 365 and Power BI) to capture fan interactions, scale globally, and enable data-driven engagement.
Microsoft Power BI was part of a Microsoft-led PaaS solution that integrated fan engagement, extended video delivery, and a consumer mobile app, consolidating data from more than 70 sources for advanced analytics and personalized marketing. The platform enabled Real Madrid to grow fan profiles roughly 400%, expand its digital team from about 5 to over 30, and drive digital revenue growth of 30% year over year—demonstrable business impact attributed to the Microsoft Power BI–enabled solution.
