Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) - Customer Case Study

Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) faced fragmented data and cumbersome school administration across 162 schools, 80,000 students and 15,000 staff, limiting visibility for teachers, administrators and families. To drive equity of access and better decision-making, CEWA partnered with Microsoft Power BI and the wider Microsoft stack (Azure, Dynamics 365 for Sales, Office 365 and Power BI) to modernize classroom collaboration and the “other side of learning” — enrolment, attendance, wellbeing and financial management.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Dynamics 365 and Azure, CEWA implemented a cloud-based platform with personalised portals, IoT-connected asset controls, and rich analytics and prediction capabilities. The rollout has produced 5,000 Azure-based teaching and professional-development assets, enabled 500 collaborative teams, delivered system-wide historical and current student data, and supported early analytics such as Year 3 literacy predictions and financial forecasting — giving administrators actionable insights, streamlined processes and stronger evidence to plan resources and improve learning outcomes.
