Business intelligence firm helps streamline Canadian government’s analytics, publishing processes

DAVHILL Group, a small Ottawa-based business intelligence and data management firm serving Canadian government departments and agencies, faced a need to help customers publish BI content securely in a multitenant cloud and embed interactive reports in web portals and custom applications. To meet that demand it turned to Microsoft Power BI technologies—building its MinedFuel BI solution on Microsoft Azure and using Microsoft Power BI Embedded to deliver visualization and embedding capabilities.

Using MinedFuel BI with Microsoft Power BI Embedded and Azure, DAVHILL implemented a multitenant web application with row-level security and an API for embedding and filtering, enabling rapid publishing to intranets and public portals. The result: project timelines that once took up to a year now take just a few days (a pilot portal was live in five days), streamlined publishing for hundreds of users (including RLS for 500 financial managers), and significantly improved IT and business user productivity thanks to Microsoft Power BI integration.
