A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
BTT Corp faced the challenge of turning a first-of-its-kind, non-invasive brain-temperature sensor into a marketable product while capturing and analyzing terabytes of continuous streaming data with minimal IT overhead. To move quickly and avoid infrastructure work, BTT Corp adopted Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Azure services (including Azure IoT Hub, Azure Functions, Azure Machine Learning, Azure SQL Database, Power BI Embedded and Xamarin) so scientists could access live data, run R-based analyses, and develop mobile and web apps.
Using Microsoft Power BI and the Azure platform, BTT implemented an end-to-end solution—IoT Hub for large-scale data ingestion, Functions and Machine Learning for real-time processing and predictive models, SQL Database for storage, and Power BI for lightweight visualization and R integration. The result: the company fast-tracked product development in under a year, ingests terabytes of per-second data, produces actionable visualizations with minimal code (e.g., two lines in Power BI), supports cross-platform mobile apps, and is preparing retail and clinical offerings that can detect health issues earlier.
