Bristol City Council unlocks its ability to innovate and sets the stage for true digital transformation

Bristol City Council, the unitary authority serving a diverse city of about 463,000 with roughly 6,500 staff, faced aging, non‑mobile IT systems that hindered collaboration, agility, and service innovation. To modernize its infrastructure and support better citizen and internal services, the council engaged Microsoft Power BI alongside Microsoft Consulting Services and adopted Azure, Dynamics CRM, Office 365 (including Teams), SharePoint Online and Power BI analytics.

Microsoft Power BI, as part of the broader Microsoft cloud modernization program, helped orchestrate the migration of 54 workloads across three clouds with nearly 500 ecosystem partners, deployed Dynamics for CRM, Teams and Power BI, and used Unified Support and FastTrack to drive training and adoption. The initiative enabled almost all of 4,000 computer users to work remotely (all but 40), reshaped the IT department toward innovation, and delivered a secure cloud foundation that improved collaboration, productivity and the council’s roadmap for digital transformation.
