A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
Fast Shop, a leading Brazilian retailer with more than 100 physical stores, faced fragmented data and a slow on‑premises IBM BI system that made it hard to get real‑time insight into pricing, margins and thousands of SKUs. To cut costs and enable faster, data‑driven pricing and customer engagement, Fast Shop adopted Microsoft Power BI as part of a Cortana Intelligence Suite implementation (including Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Machine Learning and Azure Analysis Services).
Using Microsoft Power BI and the Cortana Intelligence Suite, Fast Shop pushed data to Azure, built the analytics platform largely without IT help (about 90% built by the team), and deployed predictive models that factor inventory, competitor pricing and even weather. The solution provides real‑time pricing dashboards and scenario analysis (for example, estimating uplift from a 10% discount or predicting air‑conditioner sales from a 5°C temperature change), improved alignment between online and in‑store sales, and faster, more accurate margin control as the rollout expands across stores.
