A Microsoft Power BI Case Study
BP, a global energy company, faced a large and growing cyberattack surface as it modernized and digitized its operations. To simplify security, improve user experience, and accelerate cloud migration, BP adopted Microsoft 365 Enterprise E5 (including Office 365, Azure AD, Intune, Cloud App Security, OneDrive, Power BI Pro and other components) and partnered with Microsoft Power BI as part of that platform approach.
Using native Microsoft capabilities—Azure AD, Intune, Cloud App Security, Azure Information Protection, Windows Defender ATP and Power BI Pro—BP tightened identity and device controls, detected risky authentications (for example, impossible-travel events), blocked high‑risk access with conditional policies, and moved data to OneDrive for secure sharing and recovery. The Microsoft Power BI-enabled framework reduced integration costs and complexity, freed IT from routine PC deployment and update tasks so teams can focus on higher‑value work, and delivered clearer visibility and faster threat detection across the estate.
