Biffa, the UK’s leading integrated waste-management company with around £1 billion turnover, needed a scalable, flexible IT platform to support rapid growth by acquisition and faster user onboarding. To meet that challenge it partnered with Microsoft Power BI and adopted Microsoft Azure and Power BI services to replace on‑premises infrastructure and centralize its data and analytics.

Working with Microsoft Power BI, Biffa migrated roughly 300 servers to Azure and deployed Power BI-driven analytics on truck telematics and operational data, while bringing legacy UNIX/Linux systems into the cloud. The move made Biffa 100% cloud, enabled rapid onboarding during 10 acquisitions in 2018, improved operational visibility and efficiencies, and delivered measurable impact including a reported 25% cost saving from the Azure migration.
