Case Study: Wörwag speeds paint‑formula development and builds a global knowledge database with Microsoft Power BI

A Microsoft Power BI Case Study

Preview of the Wörwag Case Study

Automotive paint specialist Wörwag builds its knowledge database in Microsoft Azure

Wörwag, a German automotive paint specialist, faced long, costly development cycles and fragmented knowledge stored in thousands of Excel sheets while meeting strict color and durability specifications for OEM customers. To standardize global access, shorten tests, and avoid managing infrastructure, Wörwag turned to Microsoft Power BI and the broader Microsoft cloud stack (Azure, Microsoft 365, PowerApps, Dynamics 365 Business Central).

Using Microsoft Azure services (Azure SQL Database, App Service, Data Factory, and Azure Resource Manager) and integrating with Dynamics 365 Business Central, color-measuring devices, and lab painting robots, Wörwag built a custom application and centralized knowledge database; Microsoft Power BI is used for analysis and reporting across the solution. The result is standardized formula storage, faster research and collaboration across sites, and a projected reduction in test formulas (from about 100 to 50), cutting time and material costs and accelerating development.
