Asahi Kasei to Leverage Data from 1,200-plus systems! New Data Management Infrastructure Created by Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Purview

Asahi Kasei Group faced widespread data silos across more than 1,200 systems, long lead times and high integration/operational costs, and regulatory constraints that made centralized storage impractical. To accelerate company‑wide digital transformation and enable cross‑group data use, Asahi Kasei engaged Microsoft Power BI and partners to build a data‑hub platform (DEEP) using Azure PaaS services such as Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Purview.

Using Microsoft Power BI alongside Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Purview and Azure Synapse Analytics, ZEAL and Microsoft implemented a loosely coupled DEEP infrastructure that prioritized discovery and linkage over central storage. A prototype was built in about a month and the production service followed within roughly four months, enabling visualization projects (carbon‑footprint and management dashboards launched April 2022), low‑code data pipelines and a searchable Purview catalog — connecting 1,200+ systems, shortening integration lead times and advancing data democratization across the group.
