Anglian Water - Customer Case Study

Anglian Water, the largest water company in England by geography, faced the challenge of protecting sensitive chalkstream ecosystems while improving day‑to‑day asset management across a vast catchment. Working with Microsoft Power BI (alongside Microsoft Azure, Azure Digital Twin and the Power Platform), the utility needed a way to bring diverse environmental and operational data together to drive better decision‑making.

Using Microsoft Power BI, Anglian Water built the world’s first ecological digital twin of a chalkstream catchment on Azure, integrating multiple datasets and surfacing insights via Power BI dashboards and Power Platform tools. The solution improved operational decision‑making—helping colleagues manage assets more cheaply, more effectively and with a smaller carbon footprint—and enabled more targeted actions to improve river health.
