Aggreko - Customer Case Study

Aggreko, a large UK provider of temporary power and HVAC solutions, faced rapidly growing volumes of performance data from its global generator fleet that legacy proof-of-concept systems could not handle. On-premises monitoring would have required heavy capital and 24/7 maintenance, so Aggreko engaged Microsoft Power BI and other Microsoft services (Azure, Azure Service Fabric and Premier Support for Developers) to investigate a cloud-based, scalable alternative.

Working with Microsoft Services and Azure, Aggreko built a centralized operations centre and message-bus architecture capable of handling up to 50,000 events per minute, with Microsoft Premier Support for Developers securing the design and accelerating team skills via hands-on workshops; Microsoft Power BI provided real-time and historical business intelligence to inform decisions. The project delivered three customer-facing Azure web portals and one mobile app within the planned 16-week window, reduced costs, improved customer experience, and left Aggreko with a significantly stronger, more capable development team.
