Case Study: United Way of New York City achieves targeted, data-driven hunger relief with Microsoft Dynamics 365

Transforming operations to battle hunger through cloud-based collaboration

United Way of New York City coordinates roughly 400 emergency food providers to deliver 3.4 million meals and about 300,000 pounds of fresh produce annually, but its work was hampered by an aging ColdFusion platform and paper-based processes. That fragmented system made collaboration clunky, caused duplicated efforts, prevented visualization of need, and left the coalition unable to target resources to neighborhoods where 1.3 million New Yorkers face food insecurity.

UWNYC implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 to build Feed NYC, a cloud-based hub that centralizes data, integrates Feeding America insights, eliminates duplicate entry, and produces visual dashboards and automated reports. The new platform cut monthly reporting from half a day to about 20 minutes, enabled targeted, culturally appropriate food deliveries, helped 10 of 11 priority neighborhoods reduce food insecurity over the past year, and gave partners and funders the data needed to allocate resources and secure additional funding.
