The future of advanced learning will be FLEXAble with the help of AI

Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business (MIP) set out to reimagine executive education for the digital age by creating a continuous, personalized learning experience for MBA, Executive MBA, specialist master’s students and alumni. The challenge was to diagnose hard, soft and digital skill gaps and deliver adaptive, career‑aligned learning—moving beyond traditional semester structures and scaling personalization across a large institution.

Working with Microsoft, MIP built FLEXA, an AI‑powered digital mentor that assesses students’ skills, generates customized short‑ or long‑term learning pathways, and recommends curated content and activities based on individual goals and peer feedback. Launched as a pilot in late 2018, FLEXA provides personalized dashboards, supports networking and employer engagement, gives faculty granular insight into student needs, and establishes a flexible foundation for ongoing curriculum innovation.
