Case Study: Fachhochschule Dortmund builds a pipeline of job-ready Microsoft Dynamics consultants with Microsoft Dynamics 365

Students Form the Next Generation of Consultants with a Microsoft Dynamics Partner in Germany

Fachhochschule Dortmund, a Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance member, partnered with German Microsoft partner Best Practice IT Solutions to better prepare students for careers working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The challenge was closing the gap between academic study and the real-world consulting skills midsize companies demand, while also creating a reliable recruitment pipeline for consultants and developers.

Best Practice director Jörn-Arne Körnich created a four-hour-per-week lecture series, “ERP in Production,” plus a competitive practice-semester internship to give students hands-on experience with NAV’s production module and real customer scenarios. The program produced job-ready graduates and a talent stream for Best Practice—four students were hired between 2013 and March 2016—and it continues to strengthen students’ employability and the partner’s consultant recruitment.
